Exercises to Loosen Tight Pelvic Muscles

Wyandanch physical therapy is a common treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction. Our specialist will evaluate your lower back, pelvis, and pelvic floor muscles to determine which muscles need exercise to loosen. Some of the exercises that we can recommend include:

  • Knee to Chest Lay on your back with both legs straight. Bend one knee into your chest and hold for 30 seconds. Remember to breathe deeply and repeat the stretch with the other leg.
  • Knee Over to Hand Lay flat on your back and place your left knee across your body while keeping the right leg straight. You can use your right hand to hold the left knee down. Hold this position for 30 seconds and then switch legs.
  • Child’s Pose Starting on your hands and knees, relax your bottom down towards your heels. Keep your knees wide apart, and your feet close together. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds while resting your head on the floor.
  • Happy Baby Lay on your back and grasp the inside of each foot. Place your arms inside your knees and allow your knees to widen apart.
